Moving footpegs back (goose copy) was created by TheCrow80
:) Hey everyone, this is my first post. My dad and i decided to do a father son restoration on a 1980 kz1000b ltd. it was in pretty rough shape but we had it back up and running last week. Now all theres left to do is strip it down, paint and put back together. Well i was wondering if anyone knows of or how to make footpeg/shitft and brake mounts like goose off of mad max? They were moved back a bit and i would like to do the same thing. Thanks in advance :)

Fastfromthepast.com has everything you need in kit form. Unless you're handy and can fabricate something yourself.

The cheap way to move the pegs up and back is flip the OEM peg holders (unless you have the large mounting plates). Then just shorten/bend the shifter and brake pedals as necessary.

I have used rearsets from other brands of bikes and simply fabbed up brackets. I have also used the passenger peg brackets as rearsets and fabbed up linkages. The problem with rearset kits is they are expensive and I have never seen one that simply "bolted" one. Everyone I have used need modifications to get them to look right and work. I gave up and simply make my own now, much cheaper. For example The pics below I used a set of "Attak" rearsets I found in a salvage yard. They were designed for a Yamaha FZR1000 and cost me $100.00 for the set. I put them on my ELR clone using simple aluminum plates. It came out clean and works great.

On my KZ650 I used the stock passenger peg brackets and installed a long bolt the existing hole and installed a set of aluminum pegs I made by buying round stock, then drilled a hole and tapped it with threads that matched the bolt. I screwed the pegs onto the bolt and fabbed up some linkages.

Nice rearsets. those standard brackets on the ELR look so goofy imo. I have Raask rearsets on mine, but yours are perfect.

OP most rearsets can be modified between models with a bit of tweaking.

Good thinking Baldy. We have a "recycler" nearby. Maybe I can score a nice set off a bike some squid has trashed.

Thanks, most of my builds are on a super tight budget so I get pretty creative when sourcing stuff.

I did this on my KZ1000 and if you're 6' or taller it's a tad uncomfortable. Looks cool though.

Welcome.

I used '04 Suzuki GSXR600 foot pegs and brackets, bolted on.
Others have used similar from Yamahas and Kawis.

Helps to have a rear disk brake, not sure what a 1000b has off hand.

I found them on ebay, but this was some years back.
Locally would be great.
