kz550 rear brake adjustment was created by jimmeth
Realized that my brake pedal wasn't coming back up all the way after being deppressed. When I looked at it, it seemed the pedal was resting higher than advised. I adjusted it to right level, 30mm below the footpeg, but it still stays depressed after use, leaving the brake light on as well. What might be the cause of this and how do I adjust the pedal to return to the proper position? Also, it's a drum setup.Thanks

Given serviceable parts and proper assembly, there's likely a spring that's supposed to lift the pedal arm and hold it up in normal undepressed position
Lubrication where the pedal arm rotates on its perch might resolve the problem by allowing the spring to lift the pedal arm as it's supposed to.
If badly corroded in the area where the pedal arm rotates on its perch, disassembly and cleaning may be required in order to restore normal function.

Also the cam in the drum may be sticky where it comes out and fastens to the arm. Try some penetrating oil there.The grease might be hard and causing this. If that's the case, you need to take it apart, clean and re lube it. It may be the brake has worn past it's limit. I've noticed this can happen even though there's plenty of "meat" left.

The brake pedal shaft probably needs lubrication.
I use Permatex Ultra brake caliper grease in the little packets.
Rear Brake Shoes. If the age of the shoes is not known, replace them. The adhesive gets old, so a lining can separate from a shoe & get jammed between the shoe & drum, locking the rear wheel. It happened to me, so it does happen. Use brake caliper grease on the pivot points. Don't get any grease on the braking surfaces.

A locked up rear wheel at 80 MPH can make it a FKed up day.
