Having a surviving saddle from what I'm pretty sure will fit
1976 KZ900
1977/78 KZ1000
but how can I find the part number and all the years/models it will fit?
Thanks!

Sorry, but just to be clear.
KZ900 76-77-78
KZ1000 only 77-78
Is there a way to find the part number?
Local shops pretty much just cut me off as soon as I mention the year.
