Any recommendations? was created by Richardb98
I'm looking to convert a no title barn find 81 kz550 into a dirt track racer. Can anyone point me in the direction of some semi knobby tires that would still be useful for rode use with snow? Thanks in advance! I'll have pics of my progress tomorrow

A 4 cylinder bike is awfully heavy and wide for a dirt track racer; I would buy a twin or even a single if I planned to race on dirt.

As far as riding in the snow I consider it to be a very bad idea regardless of the tires unless you use ice racing tires with the metal spikes. I have been caught in the snow, and even on a lighter weight bike with aggressive tread tires it just plain sucks! Ed

 Perhaps "trials" tires?

Cool looking, but not seeing in winners' circles. :(

But if had to ride in snow, would likely opt for full fledged knobbies.

Good Fortune! :)

650ed thanks for the heads up, I've raced my 80' kz440 and i guess I'm getting a bit bored of the lower end power. I have had this 550 fall on me on a trail though and I'm only 130 pounds and let me tell you it wasn't fun. And Patton thanks I'll look into that. Just need something to and from work until I have enough to buy a newer bike next summer
