Tach

After making a three car pass I noticed my Tach was at 10,000 RPM and wiggling around. Crap I thought, it popped off the spindle. I got home and took it off and opened it. The shaft broke off at the balance weight. DOA. I already had my old speedo apart so I took out the works to compare with the one in the Tach. The bell was shallower and the balance weight smaller. Carefully I pried off the mounting brackets on both and switched them. Put the Tach back together, tested it with a drill and it worked. Put it back on the bike this morning and the needle jumps around like mad. :S No good. Couldn't be so lucky. I'm now looking for a working KZ Tach (650/750/900/1000) to gut and install in my Z1 gauge. Always something. :pinch:

you know I got you. Have the original one off the KZ1000. Your welcome to it. I remember it wagging a bit. Its been 3 years since it has been in operation. I will see if I can test it with a drill.

Thanks Jon. I'm leaving for Oregon today. Will spend tonight at my daughters then leave at 4 AM. Hopefully this will be the last time. Christina filed a complaint with the BAR so the lawyer should behave herself. My daughter was winning, that's why the lawyer ended the hearing before lunch. She's in big trouble and we hope to get our expences back. I'll check in throughout the trip. Even if it does jump a little, I may be able to make it work.
