78 kz650 front master cyl kit. Right parts ?? was created by skooterbum4real
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI ordered this front master cylinder kit on EBay. I went to rebuild the master, and found that the new parts are different than the original parts.
The soft rubber boot is smaller in width and thickness. The spring is smaller in diameter, and assembles differently. The piston assembly is a bit smaller, and has different parts than the original. This kit looks to me to be for the round master cylinder, rather than for the triangle shaped one.
Has anyone used this kit to rebuild there triangle shaped master cylinder on there 1978 kz650 B ??
The kit I got is the same as these...........
Scroll down to mid page.....
This is 13th from the bottom of the page......... www.partsnmore.com/parts/kawasaki/kz650/?filters [model]=kz650b&filters[fitting]=custom
I've found other kits just like these listed on EBay, and they are listed as fitting the 77 kz650 B, but not the 78 kz 650 B
What the heck ??

First: his ad is very deceptive if he's selling aftermarket parts.
Secondly: I think that kit is for the B1. ??? Try comparing yours to the stuff at Z1Enterprises.com. 43020-1026
Since the oem part number is listed at the top, I'm assuming it's a genuine Kawasaki. part.
I'm not very familiar with the 650B Fr Br stuff. my disclaimer.

Yea martin_csr, the one from Z1 Ent is more like the part I pulled from my master cylinder assy. I just filed for a return / refund for the one I recently purchased on EBay. Will be interesting to see what the seller has to say......
I wonder if someone has determined that some of the parts will interchange, from one year master cylinder kit to another ?? I still don't like it, as the parts are visibly different in size, shape, and components from one another. I wouldn't trust it, especially being a part of the brake system !! That's something that you don't take chances with.....

That eBay ad is totally bogus. There's no way the same kit can be used for a KZ650-B1 and a KZ650-C1, but his ad says the kit fits both. To me that throws out the validity of anything else his ad may say because apparently he will say anything just to sell his crap. I suggest you do the part number lookups and some research before buying anything for your bike, because most sellers have no idea what they are selling or simply don't care if the parts don't fit as long as they make the sale. I agree guys !! Thanks for your input !!
I haven't heard back from the seller yet. I will be getting my money back including any shipping expenses. I also have the opportunity to leave appropriate feedback for the seller. I hope it saves others from being suckered into buying bad parts.....
