Fork seals leaked - 2 years old was created by david-b
Hey all;
Went to take the KZ out the other day, and there was a pool of fluid around the front of the bike and front was just super springy.

About 2 years ago, I had the front forks rebuilt with new seals from a reputable bike shop and have about 2,000 miles on them. I know they shouldn't be leaking already. But I pulled the dust boots and the one is soaked.

So question... is there a way to fix this without doing all new seals and having to take it all apart? Or anything I can do or try to help figure this out? Don't want to take the whole thing apart and start from scratch again. Thanks.

Magic fix??
sealmate.net/
Never used it so I cant say yea or nay.Make up your own mind.
As for the old seal,maybe you got a bit of dirt into it or theres a pit in the chrome.Maybe it wasnt fitted properly,you never know. These things happen. I would check the chrome,if alls well put new seals in. Its not a big job and not expensive.
Good luck

U sure it leaking from between seal and tube.
U are supposed to install a non Harding sealant between fork tube and seal before installing the seal.
A mistake 90% of people do.

They probably used generic parts, including seals. It seems like a seal should be easy to make for an aftermarket part, but they never last long. Replacing the seals is not a bad job really. A couple hours, maybe a little more. Use factory seals and they will last a good long time.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I also recommend using Kawasaki brand fork seals on your nice bike.
