Can anyone school me on putting a spoked wheel on my 81 kz 1000p? Building a street/darg style bike and want to do a small tire rear end with 18 inch rim. I have an extended swing arm with 10" inside width. Was thinking I could use a 900 or 1000 hub and lace to a wider rim, so I could have the cush drive, is this doable? If I went with no cush drive, what should I look for in a hub, since I'm custom doing everything, caliber mounts, brakes, axle, does the hub realy make a difference as long as i get the sprockets to line up? Help, the more I read the more confused I get.
Also, is there a classified here, dont see that anywhere.
Thanks

As far as I know the spokes hubs only handle a 3.5 or 4" wide rim. On the inside of the hub their is a stamp that tells u.
That why every one get a gsxr or zx wheel for that application.

Call Buchanan Spoke & Wheel. You will have to get custom drilled Excel hoops and spokes laced to stock KZ hubs if you are running stock KZ wheels.....
Metzler makes tubes big enough for modern radial tires.
It won't be cheap, but I have about $1500 in spokes and hoops alone to do what I did on my build bike.

I used Harley Davidson hubs. Bought a bunch and collected data. Ended up designing spacers and a my own cush drive. It is in my build thread, but here is section where I am at with the cush.
