Only one grease seal in front hub? was created by pbmax
Anyone ever wonder why there is only one grease seal on the front hub?
The other side has the speedo gear drive that covers the bearing up pretty well and then further out there's a seal in the speedo housing assembly... but there's still not a seal right over the bearing. Seems odd to me...

That bearing should be one that is permanently sealed; it will have "ZZ" as the last 2 characters of the part number. Ed

Perhaps there isn't room on the left side with the speedo drive stuff or the way the speedo receiver fits into the wheel there may not be a practical way to have an additional seal there. A permanently sealed bearing would kinda solve those problems. It's been a while since I've had the wheel off. ???

As I remember there was no seal there. The drive covered the bearing and fit into the speedo drive assy. I went to sealed bearings 35 years ago. Now that was high tech.
