Is there a 18 inch mag that would fit on a 78 kz400 ? Ive got a 1000 front end that ill be installing on it and i have a wire and mag front wheel for it. Kinda thinking of going with the mag wheels for a change.

Drum or disc rear brake? Most of the Kawasaki wheels a interchangeable to a degree, there was a huge utilization of common parts back then. I would think 550, 650 and 750's would be a good place to start and there were versions of the KZ400 with alloys too, but I don't know if they had those with an 18" rear in the US. If there are differences it's usually in the spacers and wheel spindles/bearings rather than in the actual rim. Drum rears in 18" alloy are harder to find.

It's probably a drum brake. The 82 440-G2 Belt has an 18" cast alloy Rr wheel, but a chain drive sprocket carrier may swap. Other models to check would be the 650-F1 or 550A. I'd guess the 400 brake panel & sprocket carrier stuff is different from those, so you'll probably need the entire rear wheel assy. I know for sure that the shock dampers are different, but the axle diameter is the same (same castle nut). I have no idea if there would be alignment or fitment problems with a non-stock wheel.
