Mini-Apes for a Z650? was created by Frizzle Fry
I know I'm dealing with some very rusty 7/8" stock bars on my 1978 KZ650B2...
Can anyone point me in the direction of some affordable chrome Mini Apehangers (8"-10") which would pop on without much modification? I'm worried about hardware compatibility and functionality.
Thanks.

The 650-CSR handlebars are the worst & the Ltd bars mentioned are probably the same.
Taller bars may require longer cables & a new brake line, and the handlebar control wires may be too short. ???
The easiest thing to do would be to install stock or stock type handlebars.
European bars & Daytonas have similar measurements to stock.

I had 6" rise bars on mine for years. Had to get longer cables and extend the wires. I put them inside. I thought it would help my back. Just the opposite. Went to 2" rise and can ride all day.

I like my LTD bars so far... My last big trip was to La Pampa, 800km. No arms problems.

Are yours the stock Ltd handlebars? The csr bars jam your elbows into your sides which was very uncomfortable to me.

I currently have stock Z650B2 bars... They're low for my taste (I'm 6'3" 230lb), and it looks like I've got plenty of extra throttle cable and brake hose for an 8"er.
I grew up on cruisers, and while the balance to this bike is different, I'd still like a little higher bars.

Bars are up to the rider, but my own thoughts were the bars were too high on a KZ650. I replaced mine with lower bars and much better for long distance. Later I bought the KZ1000MKII and rode it 150 miles with the factory bars and they were worse yet, being higher, put low bars on it as well. Later on returned both to stock just to be stock, but for me lower bars are always better, and I rode more than most. Totally a personal thing I suppose. I'm 6'2" and 200lb. I rode many a 1000 mile day on the MKII, and for me couldn't have with high bars.
