I've got a 1985 GPz750 and I'm starting to modify it for a client. Most certainly the rear shock is tired anyway, but he would like the rear end lowered. What are the best options and considerations for replacing and possibly lowering the mono-shock rear end?

I think I've heard a Zr7 shock can be swapped in. May want to check on 750Turbo.com.
I ended up swapping the swingarm and making my own shock mounts on my '83 Gpz so I can't help much with the stock setup.

Thanks Steve, what drove you to do the swap on the swingers and mounts?

The bike needed a new rear sprocket and chain and I thought the stock rear tire was too skinny. I did buy a Zx6 rim that is suppose to swap in fairly easy but ended up finding a VFR750 parts bike for cheap and used the entire rear suspension from it instead.

When I did my 1983 GPZ 1100, extended my stock swing arm 6 inches, Zx9 rim, Suzuki Bandit 1100 shock and lowering links to set ride height where I wanted.
