So the front brake on my '75 400 is filled with powdered brake fluid. The whole cylinder assy is kaput and I think the caliper is in no better condition. What size is the master cylinder (I think it might be 12.5mm but I'm not sure) and are there any good replacements that won't break the bank?

Powdered brake fluid eh? Humm, that won't get er done.

Not sure about that master but 14mm is common. You best pull the piston and measure the bore using calipers.

Most of the time you can save the caliper with a new piston, assuming they are still available for your bike that is. It's worth a look see anyway.

Throw that master cylinder away, & buy one here , they're good quality for the price, I've had one on my 80 LTD 1000 for 10 yrs. & it functions better than the stock M/C, just make sure you get the right bore size for a single or dual disc
