Seen the recent Guy's with the 1979-80 KZ1000 shaft model's here. Rejuvenating the old bikes. Some one mentioned the swing arm pivot opening is wider on the shaft model, than the chain LTD Mark II models. I have a chance to get a bare 79 shaft frame. Have stuff to make a big tire conversion. Got a double club foot arm, and a Victory 8.5 " x 18" billet wheel a guy had. sheared off the belt pulley, riding, a stick caught in the belt drive. Luckily he did not go down! Sheared off 5 7/16" bolts? Must not of been Grade 8? I'm fixing the hub now for a chain sprocket. Don't know what to build with it?

Was just going to set up a roller. Just wondering the difference from the 9-1/8" opening on the old Z1-KZ chain bikes?
Compared to a 79 KZ 1000cc shafty?

I know the info is buried in here (forum) somewhere but my guess is at least 1.5-2" wider.

I'm sure someone with more concrete dims will be along.

WOW! Thanks Doug. I have not seen it stripped yet. A friend of mine is stripping and selling stuff on ebay.
Never thought that much wider.
Thanks for your time.

A friend of mine just stripped one down for the Mark II engine.
Put the thing at the curb for the scrappers. Too big for me to take?
I have enough junk. So does this Guy. He saves the engines for the drag bike.
I did end up with the 2 wheels and the front end
