Hey folks!
I've been struggling with the KZombie's chain gear removal and waiting on the cylinder head to be finished at the machine shop. So other than helping my son try to resolve his HD's intermittent desire to run, I've had little to do on the bikes. Recently, I bought a '82 1000 CSR and it came with new grips on the handlebar which I really liked. I have never really liked the grips on the 550a so I ordered 3 sets of these [ New Grips ] that were on the 1000 and they arrived yesterday!
My son and I had a few minutes in the garage last evening and while he was tracing out wires, I set to replacing the grips on the 550a. These new grips are simply beautiful IMHO and it took me about 30 seconds to swap-out the left grip. Then it took probably an hour to swap out the throttle grip:
About five minutes after I finally squeezed this grip on, my son and I took the bikes out for a fun in the fading sun cruise around town. These grips are awesome and so inexpensive. I like that they're thicker in diameter as it's less stress on my hands after some time on the throttle.

Well, I'm an Amazon Prime member but the grips were $4.99 (black), I bought 3 pairs (550a, 650, 1000). The total was $14.97, so that means shipping was free
I just checked and of all the different colors available, none of them charged shipping, Prime or not.
Still, it was an easy "upgrade" (IMO) and I just wasn't happy with the 550's grips which seemed to always get twisted on the throttle and made my hands feel tired after a short while of riding due to their skinny-ness.
