Hey guys, anyone using Tarozzi rearsets on a Z 1 (1973)? I am having an issue with the shifter linkage. If I tighten the peg bolt too much, the shift lever is tightened also and will not move up or down. Too little and the peg turns. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks Jim

Sounds like something isn't assembled correctly. I have 2 sets and haven't had that issue.

It sounds like you are missing a bushing or a spacer. Or you have things bolted up in the wrong order.

Thanks Doug. I think your right, but I have no directions. The assembly on mine is as follows:
1. Peg
2. Shift lever with inner pin
3. Two round brackets with holes that hold the shift arm, pin from #2 fits in one of the holes
4. Locking nut with holes that threads onto the foot peg
5. Bracket that bolts to the old location
6. Washer and nut that holds footpeg in place
Does this sound correct? Or close to yours?
Thanks jim

Jim,
Going from memory that sounds correct. However, the bushing that is threaded, for the two plates, should have a small half-moon notch in it for clearence of the little locater pin. Double check to make sure that notch lines up. It could be misaligned which is causing the lever assembly to be too thick.
I can take pics of my assembly later if needed.

Doug. No notch in the threaded washer. It has 2 holes that are just slightly smaller than the pin. I assume the pin goes into the notch.
Thanks jim

Doug, Great picture! I am sure that the pin was not in the half moon groove. Does the top hat bushing move freely around the peg or is it stationary?
Thanks for your help!!!!! Jim

The bushing moves with the lever but not the peg. So the bushing/pin/plates/threaded washer will move but the peg will not.

Doug, Thanks again for your help. I think that should solve the problem, just a little experimentation with the positioning of the rod and linkage. I won't bother you anymore tonight. I will tackle this thing in the morning! Have a great Memorial Day!
