OEM Banjo angles for 1980 LTD1000 was created by saxjonz
I'm sure I have asked a few of you before but I need your feedback as to what the stock OEM banjo angles are for the front brakes are and for the 1980 rear set up OEM angles. I have all the lines measured perfectly and I have done it several times over the course of the last year to know that they are indeed what I need. B) I just don't what banjo angles and what ptich and thread the banjo bolts need to be to order. I have googled several times without any success.
Thanks in advance. This gets installed and my bike gets done! I will post up pics of the maiden voyage.
This is what I know for the front: It's 20 degree angle from the master cylinder and where it connects to spiltter it's straight. Then where I think but I am not sure, it looks like 20 degrees on both ends for both left and right. Is that correct? I am doing a much shorter line from master to splitter than OEM so I don't just want to order OEM stuff, dig?
Also, on the rear I am doing a custom length and since I don't have the original to compare to or guess I think it would be 45 degrees off of the 1980 master to what I know would work going to the rear caliper at 20 degrees.
Also, I have no idea about what the pitch and thread measurements are for the banjo bolts. I have a custom PM caliper in the rear and the banjo I test fitted does not have the same measurements. Help would be greatly appreciated and would make it easier for others to refer to when they decide custom lines and lengths for their next project. THANKS in advance.

I'm well aware of all you guys out there that have a longstanding love affair with this guy. One, he's only interested to help you buy his overpriced merchandise and two I had work done at his shop and he shit on my bike and charged me for everything that I needed to redo the right way. He and I are finished. To add more insult to injury I did in fact try to consult with him on my bike. He wasn't interested in helping me in the least.
Not to mention which that when my bike was in his shop he wanted to swap an old beat up rusted inside tank for my newly installed fresh out of the box OEM new 76 tank. He argued with me that it wasn't color correct. I digress. No more things from me shall I mention. You all will figure it out on your own but if you look at his prices compared to any other vendor they are considerably higher on everything. Considerably. He is never ever going to be my go to for anything and I live close to him. Thanks for the feedback though. Others may have different experiences with him. I am sure thought that it's not common. The prices he sells his bikes for is just insane as well. Thanks again.

Most banjo bolts are either M10x1.0 or M10x1.25. The majority of bikes use the coarser pitch. Ducati and Suzuki tend to use the finer. As for the PM caliper, I don't have a clue on banjo bolt specs.

10m x 1.25

I measured.

Just for kicks I did a search and found this information in several threads as well.

That is good information to know. Now I am fairly certain the front lower banjo angles must be 20 because the 10 and 40 look a lot different. Just going to pull the trigger here tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the 40 degree angle in the back at master couldn't be far from correct if it is off. I'm getting excited to finally be buying the last little things my bike needs to get back on the road again. Ok, sounds good.

galferusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07...ard-Custom-Lines.pdf So, according to this sheet of information there are only three different sizes. 10x1.25 is kawasaki and I am going to call PM tomorrow to find out what size they are running. Going to take a wild guess it will be 3/8 x 24 which I could only guess to be Harley sizing.
Thanks for the information on the banjo bolt size, it helped. One step closer to getting it done.

I don't know about Galfer but when I ordered lines through Z1E the banjos were not very expensive so I bought extra angles just in case

Hey Bluejay, I got the angles covered. Fairly sure I have the bolts right. If they don't come with the lines then I can definitely figure it out. I have some nice banjo bolts so that shouldn't be an issue.
Question is, are you ready to meet my black beauty or That 70's Child?

To update this thread in case of anyone is doing any custom stuff, the front brake line setup that works with super bike bars and Zrx master cylinder which is a nice upgrade from the faded yellow plastic reservoirs is 20 degrees off the master 12 inches long in to a straight bango and the Oem length and angles at both ends is 18 and a quarter or so and 20 degrees top and bottom. 10x1.25
For the rear I will just mention that the Oem angles are both 20 for 1980 rear master and rear caliper. I have a custom length and I did a custom clutch line for which I used Zrx master and twenty degrees at master 47 inches to slave which I opted for straight no angle there.

By the buy, Galfer only has those two sizes for their banjo bolts.

I finally got the lines and they look really nice. I installed them and so far so good. The shortened line from handlebar to splitter was perfect length but now I see that the bangos have to be at certain angles from one another. I made it work but for what I see could be a mod for you guys in the near future using zrx perches and superbike bars in conjunction with a hydraulic clutch conversion this would be key to avoid any pitfalls. Once I get it finished in the next couple of days I will post about converting from the stock perches to zrx perches which look really nice IMO and work great for eliminating that clutch wire, not that it's a real problem but..., for those of you who are tired of changing out clutch lines all the time.
