conversion issues- front end swap was created by gixxerkidd03
Yet another GSXR front end- im having some issues with mine.
first problem is my front brake lines:
The oem gsxr line is to short to reached my front brake master. since im running clip-ons ,i dont know why im having this issue.
Brake line issues #2: im running the stock 19 inch front wheel. assuming i have to make a new brake line that goes over my wheel, any suggestions on how to tie it up since i cant run the stock GSXR fender with this wheel?
question on torque specs for steering stem : do you guys go with the kz steering torque specs or gsxr?
i added a photo of my steering stops too- plus brake line issues

I'd trash the old brake lines and make some new up in stainless anyway.
If using the gixxer forks and yokes then use the Suzuki torque settings.
What front wheel is that? nice to see it all fitting together without the handmade aluminium caliper mounts so often seen.
(cast alloy is weak in tension but strong in compression, the design of caliper mount plates and the turning moment stress analysis is safety critical and often not well understood)

This is a 78' kz650 rim with a cognitomoto hub. I took the pain on of the conversion by investing in the hub and steering stem. I think some new lines are in order. I'll have to go back are re torque . I split the difference on the torque spec because I thought the hard specs made the steering to stiff. I'll have to re visit

Airtech makes fiberglass parts for these old bikes. You may be able to modify a front fender from them to fit your current front end as their parts do not come with holes drilled in them for mounting. airtech-streamlining.com A bonus is that it would still look like the original fender for your kz. I assume the gixxer used something similar to my ninja- just a few holes drilled in the fender with clips that pop in the holes to hold the brake lines in place, which would be very easy to do.
