Help! The seat on my Z1 is stuck shut. I have tried to drive out the pivot pins but they are frozen in there. Any tricks you know of to pop he latch? The bike is a '73 if that helps

Can we assume the latch lever rotates fully 90 degrees? On one of ours the latch won't release if the key is in the seat lock. The head of the key keeps the latch lever from traveling far enough to release the latch.

Unless they have been removed, the hinge pins have cotter pins in them that would keep the pins from being driven out.

The lever needs to be pointing downwards to allow the seat to release, correct?

Typically it would be pointing down to release, but I've seen bent levers. It needs to rotate 90 degrees clockwise from the starting (home) position.

Popped it. You can push on the catch by reaching through to frame opposite to the latch assembly. The nut had come off the end of the lever. Put a new one on and it's fixed.
