Moved this post to the right thread. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Got the tire on and a couple rides in but now I'll have to pull the engine and split the cases. AND IT"S HOT. :pinch:

Steve, just curious... why don't you use tire lube?

Yeah... it took an insane amount of weight to balance my Shinkos. Bike mechanic told me they're not bad tires, just takes a ton of weigjht to get them right.

I'll add my .02 worth. I'm piloting a '80 XS 650 and I ran Shinko 712's for a while. Good tires for the price but they sure loved to follow tar snakes and road grooves. Changed to 230's and they were better as they didn't follow the tar snakes as bad as the 712's. Just put a set of 777's on the SG. WOW!! NO following of anything! Rolls over everything like its not there. Traction like velcrow. Mileage maybe isn't the greatest but, Traction is great, wet or dry. Mileage is decent for the price. They are not a cheap tire. I call them an inexpensive tire. I take my bike for 100 mile rides. Some 65-70 mph moments. I don't take her on Interstates. State roads as much as possible.
I don't have a plan and I'm sticken' to it! '77 KZ 650 / 750 GPz custom project in progress

Due for another rear tire and it will be a 230. Will need a front soon as well.

Always used water/dish soap solution so why change now. Besides it cleans the tire when I wash the bike.

Steve, just FYI, you mentioned colored dots to identify light and heavy spots. I had my tires mounted and balanced at my local Kaw dealership. On my front tire they orientated the yellow dot at the valve stem. I don’t see any other dots but I’m looking at pictures. I don’t see any dot on the rear. I will look later when I’m home.
