1977 z1000 fork springs was created by scotia1000
Hi,
recently bought a complete front end of a 1977 z 1000, went to replace oil seals and found a broken or cut spring, not sure what happened to it? not sure of the model to order a new set, the legs and headstock have 1977 stamped on them, but the springs seem a lot narrower than another set of tubes i have, (which might be z650/750) as these springs are a lot wider and not as strong, also the alen bolt at the bottom of the fork legs (on the one with the broken spring has an 8mm thread the other is 6mm).
the springs i am looking for are approx 54cm long and 2.4 wide
any help thanks

Sonic Springs is another good option. They have a rate calculator on their website.
One other thing you can try is to remove the small section of cut coils and replace them with a PVC spacer. The second spring would have to be cut to match. This will result in an increased spring rate over stock. Many forks of that era were undersprung anyway so it's worth a try. I've done this mod a number of times over the years with good success. Make sure the cut end is facing up so the spacer is on top. Bevel cut the spring so the top is as flat as possible, and considering contouring the spacer to nest with the angle cut on the spring. In the case shown the spring rate increase will be very slight, you may not even notice.

Im a real fan of race tec springs and emulators. I put the progressive springs in my builder . nice ether way but I prefer race tec setup. But for the money progressive, you dont need a head spacer on 900-1000s.
