Gas Tank Identification and Fit was created by Mikaw
Here to ask advice of the experts again. Please look at photos and give me a reason why this tank doesn't fit correctly on a '77 B1 frame. I purchased the tank it In a parts lot that was said to be from a 79 B3

Purely a guess, but my guess is someone tried compressed air filling the tank to try to blow out dents. Do this and the tank tries to unfold and get wider at the mounts..

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I pinched together a pooched out tank before.
Dropped the hem flange into the grooves and then pinched together the boards. Good fun!

RON IS CORRECT. the tank looks spread .see how the cups are not square with the rubber, also their should be a washer behind each of the rubber tank insulators the tank should slide in snug , no side to side movement.

Thank you TwoCam... Im aware that there should be washers behind the tank rubbers. I see what you mean about the cups and rubbers not square ... Im thinking you guys are correct the tank is "pooched" out... this is going to be a frankenstein bike so im not worried about orriginality for the LTD, I think I'm going on the hunt for a A style larger tank...
