If the front/rear sprocket and the chain are aligned straight everything is ok.
It could be possible you need an extra chain link for your 37 sprocket.

Im restoring my buddy 's bike bought,,
sadly after he passed away [which was never for sale ] It was hot roded out in the 80s
1104 big block kit , cams to match , cut trans, 16'' harley rim lowered 1'' , kerker . ect;; in storage 30 years;;;

That's correct.hardrockminer wrote: A '74 Z1 came with non-o-link chain and should not need a spacer. But if you are running 630 o-ring chain you will need the spacer behind the sprocket and you will need the front sprocket with a shoulder on the tranny side.
We can dig out the Kaw service bulletin re: spacers & post it if you need it.
