petcock help please... was created by cbrianroll
Need to convert from vacuum petcock to no vacuum for a project with a kz tank. I could weld a barb to tank and run an inline shutoff, but I would like a normal petcock to bolt right on. I've seen some generic ones on Ebay, but would like a tried and true one from someone who uses one. Pingels are spendy....but of I must lol. Many thanks, have a great day!

Do you know what the bolt hole spacing is? It'll probably be either 44mm or 34mm. Most of them from the 70s are 44mm, but I'm not sure what size is most common in the 80s. my 81 650-CSR is 34mm.
Here's one that you can probably use. custom made in the USA. Be sure to check his other items, as he has various fuel valves.
If the mounting plate is the wrong size, the guy might have what you need or maybe he could make one real quick for you.

The mounting hole spacing on the stock 1977 KZ650 petcock is about 1.75 inches, and it is a manual petcock rather than a vacuum operated one. Ed

You can get a better measurement by measuring the distance between inside edges of the two holes (using the "outer diameter" hooks), plus the distance between the outside edges (using the "inner diameter" hooks)... divided in half.

Perhaps, but since the petcock came with 44mm or 34mm spacing one's measurements would need to off by 10mm to get the wrong petcock. That's more than 3/8" difference which is quite a lot. Ed
