Strange frame number format on my bike was created by mazzerman
Hi All.
Iv just joined the forum and this is my 1st post.
I have a 1979 Z1000A2 (US import) and was looking at the frame number stamped into the frame at the headstock and it says KC1375
That to me is not the standard frame number format which i believe should start KZT00 or similar, so cant understand what my number is.
Has anyone come across this type of format of frame number before before my head explodes......

Wild guess is perhaps a replacement frame from the factory.

Good Fortune! :)

It's altered! Someone ground down the original. And stamped that in. The metal is soft and easy to stamp. I've never seen anything like that? Maybe salvaged, title re-applied for MV-50 ( In New York State USA ).
Is it that way on the title???

The bike is in Spain and is on Historic plates (fully registered as historic) Although it is a US import bike, Engine number is correct, so maybe it has something to do with it being historic,  but all the documentation (Title) has that number on them so it's all legal etc but i was concerned about the number not being in the usual format.

The following Zedder info is for reference, and perhaps not very helpful.

Zedder doesn't show a 1979 Z1000A2.

Zedder lists the following:

'79 KZ1000-A3 MKII
'79 KZ1000-A3A MKII
'79 KZ1000-C2 Police

For 78 KZ1000-A2, Zedder shows

Frame No. Range     (Japan MFR)
KZTOOA027501 - 033450

(USA MFR)
KZTOOA507027 - 515034

Engine No. Range     KZTOOAE042501 - 058140

For 78 KZ1000-A2A, Zedder shows

Frame No. Range     (Japan MFR)
KZTOOA034226 - 037430

(USA MFR)
KZTOOA515035 - 519537

Engine No. Range     KZTOOAE057037 - 057066 & KZTOOAE058797 - 075473
