Z1 body work was created by baldy110
I'm putting together a 76 KZ900A and was wondering if the tank, side covers, ect. from a Z1 will fit.

Tank is the same but is made differently. The seam on a KZ900 extends along the bottom outside edge. On a Z1 it extends along the inside.

I think sidecovers will fit but KZ900 are not the same. The left side has no hole for the oil tank like a Z1.

Seat latch is different but seat will fit. Z1 latch is welded to the frame. KZ900 is like the newer KZ's.

Many other parts are slightly different but are interchangeable.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Thanks guys. I don't have any Z1 body parts, wish I did. I want to buy a painted body set but they are all for the Z1. Can't find any that are for the Z900. I really like the root beer brown and orange but before plunking down the $$ I want to make sure they will fit. Sounds like my plan will work.

Tank is good, side covers at minimum require you to add a tab for the bottom and Z1 motor mounts, Doable, we do it here, weld tabs necessary and add Z1 motor mounts. Those Doremi body sets are well worth the money, paint is a little hard/brittle, it chips somewhat easily but it's a nice job!

You'll need the bolt on mounts for the side covers.

I like the Root beer and orange too but my buddy owned a 74 that is still the fastest bike I have ever ridin and so green comes in a close second .
Please disregard the derogatory statement towards helmet law, we were young and stupid.
