Chain noise and maintenance was created by M_a_t_t
(not specifically a KZ question)

My KZ has spoiled me, it is shaft drive and I "recently" got a new bike, but it's chain. I have neglected the chain and now I can easily hear it when I'm moving. Is this normal to any degree? It's a 300, and runs really quiet if it matters. I had neglected to adjust the chain and was running waayyy too loose. I finally adjusted it to spec for the bike (1"-1.4") and now its making noise that I can hear from about 15 and faster. Even over the wind when running 55+ mph.

Should I replace the chain? Or is it normal to hear it? Also how often do you lube your chain, my manual says 400 miles, 600 miles for adjustment. That's every other fill up for lube and every 3 for adjustment for me.

Thanks,
Matt

If it's a standard chain it needs lube every 1-200 miles. It needs constant adjustments. If neglected it will develop loose spots so running a little looser will quiet it down long enough for you to buy a O ring chain and sprockets.
