Hardtail Conversion? was created by Skid
Hi Everyone;
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the 1979 KZ650 frame and the 1980/81 KZ650 frame??? I want to do a hardtail conversion on the 79...But all I can find online are 1980/81 Hardtail kits.
Thanks ahead for any and all info;
Skid.

What KZ650 do you have & can you provide a link or two for the hardtail kits? You can compare frames on eebbaayy.
In the USA the 81-83 KZ650-CSR frame is different from the earlier 650 frames.
The csr frame doesn't have muffler stays welded to the frame >> the stays are bolted on.
Also, the seat frame tubes are probably lower on the csr. If you can't find a csr frame on EB for comparison, the 750H Ltd is the same.
ps: from past searches the kits are kind of expensive. you could install struts & a rear hoop instead. I would keep the shocks.
