Knowing that members of this forum are from all over the country and world, does anyone know of a place near Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL that does a good job of truing up spoked wheels? I need mine done, but I shudder at the thought of trying to ship them off someplace for this and I would prefer to just take them in someone that does this work. Thanks,
Rick H.

I would suggest Retrospeed in Belgium WI. I imagine Moto Scoot or The Shop can also get it done. All work in vintage bikes and have done work for me.

Let me know how it goes. If your interested drop a note where you are located. Its good to connect with the local Kawi fraternity.

Contacted Retrospeed and he referred me to a place in California. I was hoping to stay somewhat local and avoid shipping the wheels. I will try the other places you mentioned. And I live in Muskego.

Just to close out my initial question about getting my spoked wheels trued, I took them to a place in the Milwaukee area that does this work. They called me last Friday and said the wheels were finished and that it took them over three hours to true them up and balance them. The bill for this work was $430.00 plus tax. It's a bit more than I had hoped for but it is what it is. The rear wheel was the worst from what I was told and was quite far out of spec. I hope all will be good now when I put them back on the bike and ride it.

Next time do it yourself. It's not that hard. There's a bunch of Youtube videos on the subject. I made myself a truing stand and took my time and got both tires balls on in about an hour or so.

Thanks Robb2018, I have yet to ride the bike but hope all is well with it when I do. I have this little voice in my head that says I should learn how to do this the right way. Doing so would not only save me some money, but perhaps help others out with their truing problems. I can recall when almost any decent motorcycle shop did this kind of work, but not anymore.
