Question of value was created by JPL
I recently acquired a 16" x 3.00 rear wheel which I bought expressly for the purpose of using the rim in a project build I'm working on. The wheel came off of a 1974 Kawasaki Z1 and was recently rebuilt with brand new stainless spokes from Buchanan's, and brand new wheel bearings installed. As I understand it, back in the day, it was a common modification to replace the stock 18" skinny rear wheel on these bikes with the 3.00 x 16" wheel skinned with a 130/90/16 tire. Can someone tell me if there is any value for the stock hub, new bearings, and Buchanan stainless steel spokes/nipple? Spokes are 7/8 gauge with stainless nipples. The spoke kit alone sells for $130 from Bucahanan's

Pics include photo of wheel prior to dismantle, and also closeups of hub and bearing assemblies. Any Interest?

The hub would likely sell for $100 on ebay, spokes $50.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's if you owned a Sportster it was fairly common to put a 16" wheel on the rear hub to get rid of the taller rim. We then would usually mount an Avon tire on the 16" wheel. It was all about the look in those days. Once I bought my Z1B and started hanging with some Kawi guys I can't say that I recall anyone taking the stock rim off and putting a 16" one on. It may have been the thing to in other parts of the country, but not my area.
