Hello! New to the forum, New to the GPZ 1100, but not new to forums, motorcycles, or fixing most things myself.

Would anyone happen to know the bolt size and thread pattern for the bolts that go through the helmet locks that hold the seat rail in place? While I still own the seat rail, the former owner took it off and I'd like to re attach it. Knowing the size and threading of the bolts would save me a lot of fumbling around during a quarantine.

I am also looking for a "passenger" side helmet lock. Is this something I can purchase new anywhere? would anyone be willing to sell me one?

Attached is a picture of my bike currently without the seat rail, and an older picture from the previous owner where the seat rail is still attached.

Thank you in advance for any help!

The bolt sizes are usually listed in the parts diagrams, but not the pitch. Partzilla is the easiest site to use & has a cross-reference.

You might be able to find a new or NOS helmet lock on EB. Find the part number at Partzilla in the diagrams for your motorcycle, then search EB & be sure to check the "include description" box when searching part #s. If that doesn't work, then try KZ1100 helmet lock or whatever other models use the same part. and try other search terms. GPz 1100. etc.

Take a look at www.kawasaki.com/Parts/PartsDiagram/143852/1982/KZ1100-B2 to see the part number of the bolt. If it is Part Number 115C0870 the folks at www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya/kawasaki/...-8x70-black-115C0870 claim to have it. If they don't actually have it, or if that is not the correct part, using the part number in your internet search may help you find it. Ed

8x70mm is a long bolt. Whatever size he needs, a good hardware store should have something.

Thank yoy for all the help everyone! Having an idea of the thread pitch really helps me out as everything is really weird right now with the quarantine.

Buy the bolt and match it up to a 8mm tap. Theres usually just the standard metric pitch and a rarely used fine thread.
