Z440 B1 1980 Steering head Bearings - Help! was created by Niclapham
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHi there,
I was wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue to be whilst changing the head bearings on their bike and could perhaps offer some advice?
I have changed my steering head bearings upgrading to tapered bearings becuase that's all I can find online. However, despite ordering the correct bearings for my bike they don't appear to sit flush in the head meaning I can't get the steering stem through all the way to tighten the stem locknut (only half the thread comes through).
The bearings were definitely in as far as they could go.....
Bearings:
Many thanks!

They are two different sizes on my KZ900. Check yours and make sure you have the correct bearing fitting into the right race. I’m pretty sure the lower bearing is the larger one

If that bearing is really seated in the steering stem you have the wrong bearings.
The KZ400/440 use the same size bearing top and bottom.

Thank you for confirming. This is half the issue, I can't find ones that fit. The bearings are definitely sat properly in the stem.

All Ball Racing lists the dimensions of their tapered bearing kits. Z1Enterprises has them.
