KX400 Stock or SS rim spokes was created by Wez
Hello everyone. The bike is a74 KZ400 that's being turned into a scrambler. Bike only cost me$70. I'm going with some trail 3.5-18 tires. The bike will see plenty of trails and hopefully some air. The stock spoked rims just need some tlc and I'm curious if they will be ok to run for now. I see stainless steel replacements as an option but they aren't in the budget.
What will happen if I use the stock spokes? What can I expect? I love maintenance and frequent adjustments especially to vintage motors so that's not a problem. I'm upgrading the rear shock to adjustable modern RHY. It's not being raced, just looking for a fishing scout tail bike. Curious if these original spokes are adequate. Any 101 on spokes would be appreciated

Did some research and was able to remove the rear wheel and tire. I picked up some tire irons and watched a few YouTube videos. I felt like I knew what I was doing. It's all about the elbow grease it seems. I'm going to resurface ( notice I didn't say polish) these as painting doesn't seem logical. I'll just remove the rust and prepare for the long haul of maintenance. Plenty of deep scuffs and dings to smooth out but all the spokes seem untouched and true. Going to start the before and after cleaning.
