HELP! My basket case 1979 kz1000b Ltd is missing engine mounting hardware at the mid bottom of the trans case. The mounting hardware to connect to the frame. Does anyone know what bolt(s) are used? I went in Kawasaki's parts page and am not able to determine. The schematics are too difficult for me to read. Theres a small length bolt and two tear drop nuts and also a long 250mm bolt right next to each other on the picture. I'm assuming the longer bolt is for the rear mount but I have never seen these tear drop nuts or have any idea how they are used or where. Please help, reassembly is going yo happen soon and I need to order some parts. Thank you

The left side takes a 12x55 mm bolt with a spring washer. It goes through a hole in the engine and attaches to a special oval shaped nut.

The right side is a triangular mount plate. The lower two bolts are 8x18 mm bolts to hold the mount in place, with spring washers. The upper bolt is 12x70 with a spring washer. Again, you need the special oval shaped nut. You can buy them at Z1 Enterprises I think.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Okay thank you. When using the oval is there a special slot or way to use them? Never saw something like these other than like a fender washer?

They fit up inside a slot in the bottom of the engine case and are made that way so that they can be properly tightened because there is no way to get a wrench in there.

You can use a regular nut,. If you place the flat blade of a screwdriver between a flat of the nut and the engine case, you can tighten that motor mount bolt!!!!

I use oversize American nuts and bolts for all my motor mounts on my Kz1000. And that is the only way I can tighten them. Been doing it for years!!!
