I did find THIS though. Good deal huh? Check the shipping cost. They must have a Japanese guy hand carry it from Japan in a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist, then rent a car and hand it to you at your front door. What service.

Small sprockets and chains in your 530/15/35 combo will wear out faster.

To match the stock front sprocket size (which is recommend) you need to go +3 teeth so that means an 18T front sprocket
15/35 = 2.33 ratio
18T x 2.33 = 42T rear sprocket
92 link chain x .75" per link (for 630) = 69" chain
69 / (5/ = 110 link chain in 530
BTW the 5 in 530 means 5/8" between links. The 6 in 630 means 6/8" (3/4) between links

This is a good post, Nessy. Using a calculator, I also came up with 18/42.Stock is 15/35 with a 92 link chain.
Since we know the 630 sprocket is 3/4"(.750) pitch (distance between teeth C/L), and the 530 sprocket is 5/8"(.625) pitch, multiply the number of teeth on the 630 sprocket by .750, then divide that number by .625, that's the number of teeth you will need on the 530 sprocket to have the exact same diameter as the 630 sprocket.
So yeah, Robb2018, I'd go to the same diameter sprockets as stock, should be easier on the chain, and keep it off the swing arm. Look better too.

So.. .yesterday I gave up on converting to 530. Z1Parts only has rear sprockets 48 through 51 and the math trying to convert that is making my brain hurt. Path of least resistance is stay with 630. I ordered new 630 sprockets today, went down one tooth from stock in front and a 35 in back. This whole journey started because the Z1 needs new sprockets. A friend gave me a brand new 530 O ring chain a while back and I thought if I go with it I just need to buy new sprockets instead of new chain and sprockets. Anyway... screw it.
Very odd. Z1 has the exact 530 sprocket you need in stock. Oh well...

Well that sucks that you couldn't get the parts you needed to go with that nice new free chain.So.. .yesterday I gave up on converting to 530. I just bought a set of 530 sprockets for my Z1-R today. 18/42 for the same ratio as stock. 2 front sprockets and one rear set me back $58 total shipped. I got two nice RK o-ring chains for $45 each shipped a few months back for these conversions.
JTF513.18 for the front, JTR488.42 for the rear. Or JTF513.17 if you want to drop a tooth off the front.

I found this calculator, which gives a bunch of values for different gear and chain sizes.
www.blocklayer.com/chain-sprocket.aspx
The thing I thought was interesting was the "optimal wear rate" calculation. I have no idea how important it is, but it's interesting that the original values of 15/35 with 92 links is 100% optimal. Same goes for 15/33-92 for the 1978 KZ1000.
However using the direct conversion 530 chain numbers of 18/42-110, it comes out as only 50% optimal.
Any chance that a 19T 530 sprocket will fit in the front without hitting anything? The closest combination I could find that is 100% for both front and rear sprockets is 19/43-112. That's a ratio of 2.263:1, which sort of splits the difference between the factory 15/35 and 15/33 ratios. And it also splits the center-center distance as well.
