I am looking for new rear air shocks for my 1982 KZ1100A2 shaft drive motorcycle.  Having a hard time locating them. Anyone have a source....New old stock or aftermarket?
The manual says they are not resealable or rebuildable so the next thing would be replacement with same part or possibly other shocks that are the same dimensions. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm fairly certain that they're the same shocks that came on some Gold Wings, and are rebuildable - Kawasaki diagrams don't show internals but Honda does. I haven't opened mine up yet but it seems to be similar to changing fork seals - there's a circlip on the bottom that holds the seal in. Unsure how the top of the shock comes off, I assume it's either pinned or threaded on.

I will say that this isn't something I've confirmed yet, just that the shock bodies are similar and the dust boots are the same.

That same factory air-ride suspension was on my bike.  I replaced it entirely with Progressive shocks and fork springs in 2014.
IMO the ride is better, and the bike handles more like a sport bike should.  I opted to install 12.5" 12-1209B shocks (vs.13.5" 12-1207B) which dropped the seat and gave the bike a slight squatty appearance. The changeover bolstered my overall riding confidence, mostly by improving my sense of contact with the road when leaning through curves.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I rebuilt the carbs, petcock, cleaned engine vacuum system, new sparkplugs and wires and then took it to a shop to get front fork seals replaced and noticed the right rear air shock was leaking a bit. I will pass this info along to the shop.

If you really want to keep the air adjustment, I suspect that another set of originals or, as ghostdive mentioned, maybe the Goldwing version, are likely the only choice. Either way, they will be decades old.

There have been improvements in shocks since those were new. If I were in your place, I would contact Ikon and Hagon to see what they can do for you. Progressive may also have an option. I would also contact Traxxion Dynamics to see if they have a recommendation. I recently bought some Bitubo shocks from them for my ZRX. Great shocks and a good company to deal with. If you are feeling particularly flush with funds, and want the very best, Ohlins still made shocks for the KZ1000 / 1100 the last time I checked.
