1982 kz750 csr rear shocks lower

However, I'm only 5'7'' and 115lbs, so its a big bike for a beginner let alone me. Because of this I was thinking about changing out the rear shocks to something a bit shorter to help lower the ride height a bit as well as bring the weight a bit lower down. I was also going to lower the forks in the triple trees a bit but I dont think that will get me all that much lower in the front. I was looking at either 12.5in or 11in for the rear. I want to go as low as I can but the 11in seem like they might be too low since i'm not lowering the front all that much. Has anyone done this before? Thank you for any help. 

There are several things to consider.
If you lower one end of the bike and not the other, or you lower one end quite a bit more than the other, you will be changing the geometry of the front suspension in a way that will negatively impact handling.
If you go really low, you will increase the risk of the rear tire bottoming out on the frame, or the front tire contacting the exhaust pipes, or constantly dragging the exhaust system going in and out of driveways and over speed bumps. All of those could cause an accident.

You can also shorten the forks internally by adding shortening tubes. 

You can lower the suspension a little bit, and you can remove the foam from the front of the seat and replace it with much thinner closed cell foam, which is much firmer than the cushy stock stuff.
I would raise the forks as much as possible (they will hit the bars pretty quickly) and us that as my limit for lowering the rear suspension.

I know it is too late now, but it is a good idea to buy a motorcycle that fits you and your style of riding.

Yeah I kind of knew about all of those things when I bought it but I got a really good deal on it so I just couldn't pass it up. I think could make it work how it is now but would feel more comfortable if it was just a little lower. Honestly its also the power that makes me a bit scared as well. If I end up deciding that its just too much im sure I could always trade or sell it and get a smaller bike, but I wanted to atleast try this one out before I do that. 

You can probably go with Vulcan 500 shocks.  I think most of them are in the 11" range. but ask before buying. 
Harley Sportster shocks are another option. lowering or hugger shocks. sometimes you can find them relatively cheap on EB. 
note: Sportster shocks may rub the chain guard a tad. and their spring rate might be too much. ???

For the forks. as suggested by TexasKZ, I think you could add spacers at or above the rebound spring which is part of the fork cylinder assy #44022.  There's already a big washer there, so you could add a stack of washers or some sort of spacer.

11.5" Dynas.  You need to fab/modify bushings going from Jap to HD.

 

I did a test fit of some Sportster shocks >> the Kawasaki oem dampers & bushings swapped over.  

Does anyone know what the bushing size is for the rear shocks? Is it 12mm or 14mm? I cant find any shocks with 14mm. 

I think the upper bushing is 14mm & the lower is 10mm.  The upper shock nut is 12mm but where the bushings fit is larger & there's a 14mm washer on the stud.  The lower shock bolt is an M10 & fits thru the lower bushing.

Did you get you dampers and bushings from partzilla? Are there any specifcations for them that I could search on google because those seem kind of expensive. 

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI think these will work.  EB item #393411353296. dimensions in last description pic:  24mm OD x 14mm ID x 22mm W.
But I would remove a shock & measure yours before buying anything. no sense in buying a set that won't fit. 
always verify beforehand.  Also, Z1Enterprises has shock bushings, Hagons for sure & maybe an Emgo kit.

14mm shock bushings for the upper mount. you should be able to find the other size for the lower mounts.
