discretion is sometimes the better part of honour, at the end of the day a resolution as painlessly as possible has to be good. Don't worry about checking your "man card" it takes a big man to accept when sometimes the alternatives are the way to go

Appreciate that Wookie.  Will see what the professionals say & do tomorrow a.m.

There is still a part of me that wants to see this through myself.  But at this point, let the machine shop give it a go.

Smart people surround themselves with talented and smarter people. That’s why I’m here! No concerns on the man card. Actually you can add a practical card to it. You mentioned the value of the forks based on your content with their components and their performance, no reason to risk that.  Good luck.

If the shop isn't busy and they can do it right away you might be able to watch!

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Met the owner of the machine shop.  He make his money in the OEM market.  Impressed me and serious about his work. He made no guarantee.  I respect that.  Found out he is a motorsports enthusiast and owns a 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo. So, he took some interest as we spoke.
He will have some other vertical work in a couple of weeks and will fit this in.  He spoke of a process(can't recall the tool name) where he will cut down into the stud body leaving the threads intact.  He mentioned, I may need to pick out the remaining steel thread from the fork body.
Let the waiting game begin.  I need to mount a new rear tire on my C-14 anyway and will fit new braided brake lines on the KZ..
