Kickstand thread pitch? was created by Elfarm98648
I am looking to fix the buggered threads on my kickstand and would like to know if anyone knew the thread size so I can be sure before I buy a tap/die for it? It appears to be around M8 but unsure of TPI.

I just logged in to say it's probably M10 & would've guessed 1.25. hee.
Also, maybe get a new or replacement bolt?
unless you've already done the repair, then never mind.

Yup, still available new from Z1E, Partzilla, dealership, et cetera. That nut and bolt were used on about a buzillion different models from the Mach III to the ZX11.
However, I interpreted the op as referring to the threads in the bracket welded to the frame. If badly bungled, a different solution may be needed.
For less than $1 more, you can get a new spring, too.

Thanks. I was thinking if the threads on the frame are bad, then the bolt may be buggered as well.

Tex and Martin, I did exactly that, I bought the Z1 kit with spring and went to install it and realized the threads in the kickstand were buggered so I wanted to run a tap through it before installing my shiny new bolt and locknut. Came out well, hopefully it lasts another 42 years like the original.
