I purchased this KZ900 4A in1980 form a warehouse where the bike was sold to the warehouse owner. I bought it from him for a few hundred $. It wasn't running and obvious it had sustained
front end damage. I fixed it and drove it periodically over the last 43 years. I'm looking to sell it and wondered if there are motorcycle frame experts that could evaluate the welds and alignment of the frame to see if they are satisfactory. I have had no problems and the weld remains intact over the decades. It is quite obvious and I would disclose it anyway to a potential buyer. Or should I not bother and list it at a reduced price and see if anyone wants it with the welded frame. See attached pix.
Thanks
Tom

There are specialist welding engineers out there.  If you've ridden the bike for 43 yrs and are still alive I suspect the frame is fine.  Unless you know of a problem you can always sell it as is.

For interest sake, I bought a Z1B with a serious frame crack on the left downtube.  I had it repaired and eventually sold the bike.  If done properly the tube won't show any weld and it will be as good as new.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Honesty is the best policey.
It is out in the open and should be obvious to any would be buyer.
That being said, the weld of that quality even if it holds will affect the value of the bike.

And taking a second look it seems to have been stick welded with small rod, 3/32 or 1/16.
Also the tubes are not alined.

I didn't want to pick on  a new member seeking  advise here , But If  no one in his area can do a proper job , then I would sell it as is .
The work needs to go back to square one  and  be  done again .

Just be honest with any potential buyer and give them the same history and information you gave us.

Thanks for the input. You are absolutely right about the misalignment of the front tube. I would actually like to spruce up the bike a bit and keep it, but the wife suggested otherwise since we have quite a few toys (I call them tools). I'll call around to some custom bike shops and see what I can find. What kind of price range are these bikes bring (ones without frame damage and in average cosmetic but runs and shifts good)?
Thanks again to all for your input.

How about pictures of the whole bike and a list of accesories and work done to it
Then we can help with a value
