Rear shock damping - 1980 KZ750E

Hello!

Does anyone know how to get the damping adjustment completely open on KYB shocks?  

For example I know that the Ohins on my newer Triumph that counter clockwise until it stops is fully open and then you set it from there, but I tried that on the KYB’s that only appear to have 4 settings and it went more than 4 turns so I’m guessing that they may not work the same?  

My rear shocks were missing the damping adjustment collar when I purchased the bike.  I have since purchased another set of shocks off eBay for the purpose of scavenging the adjustment collars.  I have everything ready to go but I am not sure what damping on my bike is now and when I reassemble I would like to have the collar in the correct position.Top photo is the donor shock and bottom photo are the shocks I’m using.
