should I plug my tire was created by 782david
Just got home and found a small nail in the main body of the tire directly in the center. Can the hole be plugged or should I stay away from doing this? The tire is in real good shape with lots of wear left.

most tire plugs are rated at 70-95mph but id have to agree with alice on this one.
once bike tires are punctured thats pretty much the end of em in my book(unless tubed)

In my opinion, a tire plug on a bike is a temporary emergency repair to get you to someplace the tire can be properly repaired.

A proper repair will consist of a patch on the inside of the tire, and I would only do that until I had the $$ to buy a new tire :)

Have it hot patched on the inside.
If you're tight for $, do the dismount/mount yourself.
Index mark tire and rim.
Have it patched.
Buy a tape weight that weighes the same as the patch. Maybe a hair more.
Remount tire with index marks lined up.
Apply tape weight 180 degrees around the rim fom the hole.

IMO the hot patch is safe to use until the tire wears out.

No tire or motorcycle shop would patch the tire due to safety reasons. Had to get a new one. He put on a Duro tire, anyone ever hear of that brand?

sounds like he just wanted to sell ya a new tire.
plugs are for emergencies (i carry a plug kit)
but the best and cheapest way to go is a tube.
did he let ya keep the old tire?
if it has alot of wear left, just buy a tube at the next tire change, and have it balanced.
as far as duro........sounds like cheap korean stuff to me, never heard of it, and i've been in the wind for 30+ years.

I think one of the 750 twins I just bought has a pair of Duro tires on it. It's not running yet and I had never heard of then before, so I can't be of any help either.
