Can I put on bar end mirrors

I want to put bar end mirrors on my KZ1100-L, put when I peeled my grip on the end of my throttle, I saw that it isn't exactly hollow. Would it hurt anything to drill or cut out enough room to mount bar end mirrors?

as long as it doesnt catch on mirror you should be all right i would think.
