I know some people have used locktite.
But the retaining washer is supposed to have a little point that fits down into a hole on the original sprocket to keep it from moving. When I bought my new sprockets, it did not have this hole. So I slapped it on the drill press and made a hole. 1,000 miles later, it's still in place, and no locktite. I hit the Ton about once a month, so I feel that it's pretty secure.

I slather all counter shaft sprocket nuts with RED LOCTITE. The washer, by itself, isn't all that comforting... I have seen the counter shaft sprocket nut back off and a loose sprocket can do a LOT of damage to your bike and possibly to your leg/ankle.

I guess I will be doing the locktite thing in addition to the washer.
got lucky that all the damage was just a minor rub spot on the case, it sure did feel like the tranny blew up when it happend
