Gday to all, Im a newbie. Not to bikes but to this forum. Im an old fart and had a 900 as my first big bike. I have been lucky to get another. I have bought a Z1 in the USA and will pick it up early next year to ship back to OZ. I have got many bikes out of the States and need to know what the bare frame weighs. Also the 4 pipes as well thanks. If anyone is really anal and knows the dimesions of these 2 items then that would be great.

I need to complete this bike

Shocks, grips and the complete tool kit, any ideas ?????????? I want only original stuff so if you have something for sale please let me know or where I can get it.

Next thing, the Z1 the Z1A and Z1B.. If we have the same bike in condition, what are the differances in value.

Last one for now, the Z1, A and B. are the tanks and body work the same, as I wish to bid on some Ebay stuff.

Thanks in advance, Gum

Hi Gum; welcome to an "old fart" from another old fart.
Somebody with knowledge of the 900's will help you with the info you are looking for.
Where do you live?
Oh yes, photos of the bike will be needed...

Hey Gum! I can help with some of the info. In terms of value (with the caveat being the bikes are in original condition = stock) the bikes can be rated as Z1, Z1B, and last, Z1A. This is based on 5 years worth watching eBay, Cycletrader, etc. in the US. As you probably know, the highest values can be attached to the 1972 early production Z1's. These bikes are in a class by themselves. Strangely, the Z1B's are more highly prized than the Z1A's. I don't know what resale is like in OZ, but the average price of these bikes in North America (in running, but not pristine condition) is about US$5000 for a Z1, and about US$4000 for the Z1A/B. ***Although the market seems to dropping lately***

As for buying OEM NOS Z1 stuff...eBay, eBay, eBay...all things appear on eBay, eventually...but it may take watching daily for a year+ to gather and harvest all that you need:)

Welcome Old Gummer. ;)

I had to get a price on shipping a 650 frame, so these specs might give you some idea on the 900s.
My frame was without the front end, no tripple clamps, etc. No swingarm either.

Length 53", 1346 mm
Width 18", 457 mm
Hight 30", 762 mm

Weight 44 lbs, 20 KG.

Hey Gum! Had nothing to do on a Sunday (and I needed to strip a frame anyway...and you needed some dimensions) so the following is based on a 1977 KZ1000A frame (which should be reasonably close to a Z1):

Length - 1395 mm
Width - 235 mm
Height - 750 mm

These are the maximum dimensions (if you had to build a rectangular box to fit the frame into)

Weight - 42 lbs (without swingarm, triple tree, etc)

:)

Very nice Z Lyndon. Is this the one you bought out of the US and are needing to ship or do you have it now in Oz? It's really nice to see an unmolested Z-1 every so often they are becoming fewer and farther between.
