Can you rebuild a rear shock? was created by hat0791
Is it possible to rebuild a rear shock on a kz?

I would like to put a heavier weight oil in them, but didn't know if it was possible.

I think only certain kinds of shocks can be rebuilt, but I wanted to see if anybody else had some additional insights...

Yes, you can rebuild shocks although Im not 100% I think that the stock kawasaki shocks are welded? I have a set of Mullholland shocks on my 650 and Ive had them apart although the Aluminium seal holders stripped  when I removed them and I had to make up a stainless set on the lathe, worked out ok as I was able to machine the nut/holder to take a hydraulic ram shaft seal.:cheer:
Ther is a mob here in Brisbane Australia that rebuild even welded shock, must be a bit of a mission though.
