Attention Las Vegas and c.a people!
19 Feb 2021 13:09
Hey guys, just out of boredom I decided to look through one of my various collections! This time my matchbook collection, its all been given to me by different people over the years and I forgot I've got a few u.s ones, now I'm in the uk and I've never been to the states (one day!
) so I'm wondering who can tell me how old some of these are and which companies are still trading, plus any other details would be cool! The first couple of pics are just the whole collection, there's a lot from nearly every country!

The Hacienda was a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, that operated from 1956 to 1996. It was opened by Warren Bayley, who owned other Hacienda properties in California as well. Bayley opened the hotel portion in June 1956, although the opening of the casino was delayed as the Nevada Gaming Control Board objected to his choice of casino manager, Jake Kozloff. The casino portion eventually opened on October 17, 1956. The $6 million property had 266 rooms and the largest pool on the Las Vegas Strip. Like its sister properties in California, the resort included a neon sign that depicted a cowboy riding a palomino horse.

Excellent info 73z1
full marks for you! I can't imagine how much cash that business took in in 40 years! Probably the same as the rocky movie franchise!
I'm just wondering now...if the movie con air came out before 96, I think it might have...then the Hacienda might be visible somewhere at the end when they crash land at the strip...I'll have to investigate!

Ha ha wu-Bens! That's funny  it makes me think of the end scene of "a Christmas story" when the family have Duck in a Chinese restaurant and the staff sing Fa-ra ra ra ra!
