OK, so I picked up a bike today...

Well, I picked up a 1979 KZ650 SR today. I've been looking for a few weeks. My plans for now are to take care of the minor maintenance issues, and remove the fairing/bags and find stock headlight, taillight, and turn signal assemblies. The only pictures I have so far are from the previous owner. I want to bring it back to pretty much stock: the only mods I want to do for now are exhaust and lower bars.

Congratulations...hmmm, that Windjammer set has to be worth something to somebody?

Looks like how my bike used to be. Good luck on whatever you want to do with the bike later on in the future. Heres a pic of mine, I got it without the saddle bags because the owner wanted to keep them for his next bike he doesnt have yet

You may have seen it on Ebay. No one bid on it, and I didn't have the cash together at the time of auction. So, I emailed the seller he agreed to sell it to me.

My plans right now are pretty simple for it. First, the clutch and throttle cables need replacing (throttle doesn't return very well...not good, but hopefully new cables and lubing will fix that.) Then, basic maintenance needs (oil change, plugs, chain lubed, etc.) Then, I'm taking the fairing and bags off and putting stock lights on, then superbike bars, and KZ650 ducktail and seat. After that, electronic ignition and different exhaust. Repaint at some point. That should make me happy for awhile.

Someone else is putting a ducktail on their SR and I will ask you also to take pics and keep us informed of how it goes if you would?.

Hmmm, that might be me. I posted a question about that earlier. I'll definately take some pics along the way.

Yeah , now that I have a minute to think about , I do believe it was you. It was kinda hectic around here earlier. Barely had time to get on and read my mail!
