I'm new to the forum would like to say hi. I just purchased a very nice 1977 KZ 650 very nice shape, I don't have any experience with these bikes. Would like to know what the pros think about this model? i promise pictures will follow. In the 70's and early 80's I rode alot of Kaw triples all 1969 thru 1974 models I had 1 kaw 900 1973 (my favorite) this reminded me of it so i bought it !! I hope it was'nt a mistake it was a impulse buy !! Thanks :P

Welcome.

I hope it wasn't a mistake as I've had mine for over 20 years and feel it's been a great bike.

You should have many happy miles on her if she's ridable and hasn't been trashed.

Post up a picture of her for all to see.

Not a mistake at all, like rstnick I've owned my 650 a long time (26 years) and it still scares me sometimes how fast the bike still is! Back in the early '80's I took on Suzuki GS650's, Honda 750's and after 3rd gear walked away from them. You have one of the very best early middle weight bikes made. Welcome and look forward to chatting... ;)

Welcome to the site. I've had a 650 since 77 and loved it. If the 900 was your favorite this will give a run for the money. The 650 will handle better than any of the Kawi's you've had and will surprise you with the power. I put some Yosh go fast goodies in it in the early 80's. After the hop up it took my friends 1000 all the time. GREAT BIKE. In 77 it was the worlds fastest 750.

No mistake! I bought my '77 KZ650C1 in April 1977 and I still love it after just about 30 years! I wish you as much luck as I've had with my bike; just tires, oil, occassional points/plugs, etc. Never had the head pulled or any other work that wasn't standard maintenance. The bike still runs VERY strong and smooth. Ed

Welcome!

The 650 is a great bike as I've come to learn myself over the past three years. They are very capable and the engine is nearly bulletproof.

They respond very well to TLC.
