Hi I am in the process buying a kz 1000. I am unfamiliar with kzs. I owned a 2001 Honda shadow 600, and have ridden several other bikes. Just wondering what to expect from a kz.

Depends on what KZ1000 your referring. The package was wrapped so many different ways. What year is the unit and model, some condition description should get you started.

Even considering the differences in technology advancements within these years, you'll be surprised for the KZ series were ahead of it's time.
In considering all the new technology out there, the KZ still kicks some serious ass regarding raw power. That's why we're all here....
With a well kept KZ, fine tuned in performance, your life will never be the same.... You hit that throttle, you better be holding on...
Say goodbye to the wife and kiddies for it's an obsession!

Hi Jtsbh,
welcome to the site. If you get any of the KZ1000 bikes be prepared to enjoy riding. My KZ1000 CSR is really smooth power wise, and really reliable. Gas wise, it gets between 35 and 45 mpg, which depends on how hard I ride it. I have never given it full throttle as it is pretty fast... On rapid aceleration (not full on) it starts to get light in the front end when I upshift. The stock suspension is sufficient for the way I ride, but probably not near what a new sportbike has.
I hope you do get a bike in decent shape, it will make your introduction to KZ's that more satisfying. Best of luck.

My coworker owns a ZRX1100. He rode mine the other day and said it was the like riding the same motorcycle.
I ride mine to work 3 or 4 times a week and a little on the weekend. I also get around 42 mpg and have a cafe fairing.
